What do you get when you take two talented young filmmakers, an improv comedy team, and a green screen stage, add the online video community YouTube and mix it all together?
The recipe for a remarkable success story.
On a summer weekend in 2007, twin brothers Daniel and David Holechek enlisted a group of friends and coworkers to help create a spoof of the Warner Brothers’ visual effects blockbuster 300. They intended to make a short comedy film to post online as a way to test and expand their filmmaking and visual effects skills.

Decked out in their character costumes, the cast of 305 and it's two directors gave us a chance to sit in with them and talk about thier movie "305", the first Youtube short to be made into a movie. The whole cast had a wonderful presence, even switching from their 305 characters(at times) to their
own personalities. The conversation started with a very humorous moment, with Ron from SVS teasing one of the actors not knowing what a Mr. Microphone was. From their reactions I knew that these guys were going to be fun. After a few laughs, the two directors talked about the filming of the movie,
and what they did with the limited resources they had to work with.
Two great behind the scenes stories were told. One involving the troubles of filming inside a warehouse with constant cricket chirps at night, having to hit a ball against the ceiling to quite them down, just to film for a few minutes in order to get the shot done. The second story was the origin of the red snowflake mug, where it came from and what happened to the original.
Luckily having a backup mug from the same place. Both stories were told with humor and sarcasm from all of them, which made this conversation seem like you were in a DVD live commentary. Another highlight in the conversation was an emergency fire drill the hotel had that interrupted the great time we we all having. But the guys just took it in stride and even joked around about it.
Afterwards we were given a screener copy of the "305" movie and a chocolate gold coin. The 305 guys were a fun bunch of guys to spend some time with. A time really well spent.
