SVSound LLC supplied outfitted one large conference room with an amazing 7.1 audio setup which included their newly designed MTS-01 7.0 speaker system, two PC-Ultra Subwoofers and two PB13-Ultra subwoofers. Shocking audio was the result, even with some of the gear in early form not yet shipping to the public.
A second room housed a classic stereo 2.1 configuration with the first ever production PC12-Plus and the new PB12-Plus producing some gut pounding bass in these large rooms.
In use in the prime surround sound demo system was SVS’s upcoming and incredibly effective subwoofer equalizer built with Audyssey Labs. The AS-EQ1 is not available for order, yet, but we heard it and you can imagine why the bass sounded better when switched on. The before and after charts are fascinating.
Also playing was a new SVS concept 7 channel IcePower® amp belting out over 250 watts each to each of the main speakers in our Burbank “theater”. Rock concert sound pressure levels were tapped frequently over the week (though the amp showed up only for the last two days having come by air where it was being shown in Scandinavia the previous week). SVS said more would be heard about this compact powerhouse by CES. It seemed the perfect complement to the SVS M-Series speakers.
Carada was gracious enough to donate a 118” diagonal 1.78:1 Criterion Series screen with Brilliant White surface material. Image quality from this screen was absolutely gorgeous and SVS created a custom stand which allowed this monster to be used in a free-standing mode.
Panasonic provided us with a AE2000 Projector and while apparently now eclipsed by the newly announced AE3000 this was still a picture that popped. Several HTF experts members took a hand at tweaking it to gorgeous. The steady diet of new Blue-ray Disks and CDs looked and sounded like a purpose-built dedicated theater should. Thanks to all who helped SVS load and set up too, even 1,500 miles of transit doesn’t phase the crews supporting HTF events!
