With a week where we managed to experience one successful event after another, the most disappointing evening for me was the opening dinner at Vitello’s Restaurant.
I knew nothing about this restaurant other than its status for the place where actor Robert Blake was involved in a shooting incident. We set up a buffet for all the attendees at a price that I felt was a bit steep (we make no profit on these meets). I thought the dinner was quite mediocre, but worse, the service was abysmal. I spent the latter part of the evening addressing complaints and speaking with management who of course took no responsibility for their shortcomings.
Despite the problems with the restaurant, I do hope that people had a somewhat enjoyable first evening in Los Angeles.
