HOME THEATER FORUM
1997 - 2007
This Is How It Began
Before the Internet became a household name, there were various online outlets such as AOL, Compuserve and Delphi. It was within those services that small communities devoted to specific hobbies could be found. During the early 1990s there were many of us who dialed in with our 2400 baud modem to access chat forums dedicated to Home Video. That is where I met my business partner, Parker Clack.
In early 1997, Parker and I took Home Theater Forum to the Internet with just 50 members under our wings. At the time many of us were knee-deep in the laserdiscs though word was that a new format called DVD was about to launch.
Today, Home Theater Forum has become one of the most popular Home Theater/DVD related sites on the Internet with a membership that exceeds 75,000 members. Over the past 10 years we have watched the launch of the DVD format, helped shape its growth, and now look forward to high definition discs that deliver unsurpassed audio and video quality into our homes.
What you are about to see is a scrapbook that contains hundreds of photos taken during our first 10 years. Many of the photos contained herein have survived a major hard drive crash so please excuse the fact that some of them contain blemishes. We do need to acknowledge the services of Adam Gregorich who rescued many of these photos from our damaged hard drive. Without Adam’s efforts, many of these photos would have been lost forever.
It goes without saying that Home Theater Forum and all these memories would not exist today if not for the membership. We pride ourselves as having built a community of the most knowledgeable and friendly membership that you will find anywhere. It is to those individuals that we dedicate this scrapbook to. Thank You for being a part of our community.
